How to tell the size of ATV wheels
Getting the size right when you need to replace your ATV wheels is important. If you’re buying used wheels, you need to be sure you’re getting the size ATV wheel you’re paying for because you’re probably not going to get a second chance if you pick up the wrong size wheels for your ATV. So here’s how to read and measure ATV wheels.
How to read ATV wheel sizing
Example wheel size: 8x8, 3+5, 4/110
8 is the diameter of the wheel and also the inside diameter of the tire. Use an 8” wheel with an 8” tire.
8 is the width of the wheel.
3 is the offset in inches from the inside.
5 is the offset in inches to the outside.
4 is the number of bolt holes in the wheel.
110 is the spacing of the bolt holes, most times in millimeters. (See How to measure an ATV wheel bolt pattern below for the methods of measuring different bolt patterns.)
How to measure an ATV wheel bolt pattern
For a 3-LUG wheel: Measure the diameter of an imaginary circle that passes through the center of all three bolt holes.
For a 4-LUG wheel: Measure the distance between the center of two holes directly across from one another.
For a 5-LUG wheel: Measure from the back (side) of one hole to the center of the second hole.
